My present singleness is one of God’s greatest gifts to me—not merely as a sanctifying force or as a season of life to weather successfully. Rather, my singleness is a celebrated assignment, through which the Lord is given glory by the unencumbered way I wield my time and energy for His renown.
Ultimately, this matters to us because God does not leave His Church alone to fend for herself. Rather, He cares for the Church, restoring her to life when she begins to die.
God in His sovereign kindness brought about the restoration of His Church. He prepared people and world events so that His Word would be made known broadly and rightly.
Trinity means simply the “tri-unity” of God. It means that there is one God, who is also three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. The three persons within the Godhead are unified in their God-ness yet distinct in their role and personhood.
This God is a sovereign, creator God, who is worthy of our worship and glory, above every other god and any man-made idols, and holy and righteous in everything He does.
When we fail to heed sound teaching, we listen to whatever doctrine is most appealing at the time. This teaching may sound good, but it will ultimately lead to destruction.
The last several months have convinced me that this is indeed a worthwhile project simply because God is worthy of my praise. I forget this incredible fact too often, so let me say it again: God is infinitely worthy of my praise.
Sound theology, understood and embraced, informs and transforms each of these areas of life, while the lack of a sound theology is detrimental.
