When did the Lord call you to himself?
The Lord called me at 5 years old. I remember sitting on my princess bed crying my heart out to my mom, so full of shame and never wanting to go back to school again or see anyone ever again because I had been caught in a very public lie at school. My mom shared the gospel with me and, while I’m sure I had heard it a thousand times already in my short life, all of a sudden it made sense and I understood why I needed it and why it was important. After accepting Christ’s atoning work on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins, all of that shame disappeared and in it’s place was joy. I told everyone who would listen about my Savior. I can look back at that day and see that God has kept me so close to Him and used that early faith, and the slow process of sanctification, from that time to work a huge love for the Lord in me.
Why are you writing?
I am writing because I can’t help it. I love writing and my favorite thing to write about is my Lord. This is my most authentic form of worship. I am writing here because enabling women to pursue their Lord more fully and equipping them to grow the Kingdom in their spheres of influence is my life’s dream. I’m also writing here because I love the other ladies who are on this blog. It’s been amazing watching the way God has orchestrated this whole thing and brought a group of women committed to passing on a love of God to other women in our church.
Things you do when you’re not writing
You can often find me snuggled up on the couch talking about anything and everything (but mostly our church and our faith) with my husband or closest friends or building towers to knock over, playing in the kid’s fort and reading the same book 25 times with my kids. We like going on walks, discovering new playgrounds and libraries in our city, and making huge messes by baking together or telling interactive stories. I love meeting up with my friends for walks or a delicious hot chai from our local coffee shop.
For-fun book: Lord of the Rings (true story – it’s also how I met my husband!)
Coffee, soda, or tea? I don’t like coffee and I hate spending $2.30 for hot water and a tea bag so my favorite drinks are green tea latte, London Fog Latte and Chai!! Bringing a chai latte to me is pretty much the easiest way to my heart.
Preferred style of pen / writing instrument: after the birth of our third child, Seamus (SHAY-mus), David got me a fountain pen with emerald green ink made from some squid in Japan. It’s my fave!
