When did the Lord call you to himself?
At the age of 16, I visited a small Baptist church all by myself. A youth pastor named Rusty Thomas pulled me aside and shared the gospel with me in his office. I immediately burst into tears when I heard it. I had many unanswered questions about the Lord since about the age of 12, and he answered my questions. I did not know much about how to live the Christian life, but I did the best with what I knew at the time. I certainly had been given a new heart in that office, because my desires changed and so my behavior changed. I didn’t realize what had happened at the time, but as I look back with much more knowledge of Scripture, I can see His work so clearly in my heart and my life.
Why are you writing?
I am writing because God and His Word are worth writing about. (I stole this from Lauren Chandler, but when I read it, my heart was convinced that this is a task worthy of the time and effort.) Having a biblical worldview is essential to how we interpret our life and our roles with in it. I want to strengthen my own biblical understanding and then package and share that with the women around me. God is good and merciful, and I know that in order to believe that each day, no matter what happens, I have to have sound theology.
Things you do when you’re not writing
When I am not writing, I am chasing after my three kiddos. We are homeschooling and two of them are school age. I love being able to spend this time with them when they are young and getting to watch their little eyes light up as they learn. I feel like we are constantly trying to clean the house in between lessons and meals, but it never really gets clean. I believe someone described cleaning house with children present is like trying to nail jello to a wall. I have to agree with that statement. This is my life.
For-fun book/magazines: I love nature, so when I get a chance, I like to read The Missouri Conservationist magazine. I love learning about new animals or conservation areas we could visit one day.
Coffee, soda, or tea? I love black coffee and I drink it all day long. I will occasionally splurge for a soy caramel macchiato or a black cold brew in the afternoon.
Vegetable: I grew up eating lots of vegetables, so as an adult I love all vegetables. Broccoli is probably the one I eat the most of since it is easy to prepare and it can be eaten raw or steamed.
Item of clothing that is currently in your closet: I have all sorts of clothing in my closet, but I tend to wear athletic wear each day in hopes that I will actually find time to go for a run or a walk with the kids.
